Metropolitan William Skurla was pleased to give a tour of his Byzantine Catholic Seminary to Cardinal Leonardo Sandri, Prefect of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, on Sunday, June 23. Both were headed to the Cathedral of the Byzantine Catholic Archeparchy of Pittsburgh for the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Metropolitan Church of Pittsburgh.
Cardinal Sandri made reference to his visit to the Seminary at his homily during and remarks following the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy. He found noteworthy the interjurisdictional make-up of the Seminary (i.e. having not only Ruthenian, but Romanian, Melkite, and Ukrainian seminarians) and reignited the Seminary’s interest in promoting interjurisdictional cooperation among clergy and in liturgical and pastoral matters.
