Candidates for the M.Div. degree must be sponsored by a bishop or religious community and have met all the requirements for priestly formation as defined in the Program of Priestly Formation sections 185-190 to the satisfaction of the sponsoring eparchy or community.
     
Candidates must also have earned an undergraduate degree from an accredited undergraduate program.

Furthermore, the Byzantine Catholic Seminary only accepts candidates for priestly ordination who are recommended by the Vocation Director in their eparchies.  Men interested in pursuing priestly orders are directed to work with their local parish priests and to make application through the appropriate Vocation Director:
